Silk Shading Hand Embroidery Workshop – Durham
The Weigh To Shop hosts a relaxing silk shading workshop with Louise Goult Textiles, teaching this hand embroidery technique, sometimes called painting with threads, to create your own artwork from an image of your choice.
You’ll learn how to transfer your design to fabric, explore different threads and their effects, and work through the most popular silk shading stitches, with one-to-one support throughout in a small group of maximum 8.
All materials are included, and the session finishes with a discussion on finishing methods, including framing. It’s designed for those with some embroidery experience through to more accomplished embroiderers, though beginners are welcome to get in touch first if unsure. The shop closes to the public for the workshop, though you’re welcome to browse, shop and buy refreshments during the session. Free tickets are available for accompanying carers not taking part.
