Rapunzel – Durham
Gala Durham’s own Christmas production for 2026 is Rapunzel, a new family pantomime written by Gary Kitching and directed by Maria Crocker.
It gives the fairytale a local twist, with a mysterious tower deep in the forest of Hamsterley and a voice so pure it stops passing woodcutters in their tracks.
Poppy Keith takes the title role opposite Sarah Boulter’s scheming Mistress Gothel, as Rapunzel sets out to discover who she really is and solve the mystery of the floating lanterns. Expect songs, laughs and mischief, with relaxed, captioned, audio described and signed performances across the run.
