Mani Kambo Ax·is Mun·di – BALTIC
Mani Kambo is a Newcastle-based artist who uses her own personal totemic symbols to explore the inner spirit.
Influenced by an upbringing that involved superstition, prayer and religious ceremony, Mani’s work is deeply rooted in her family history within the caste system.
The artist uses textiles, fabric dying and printmaking to question routines, objects and rituals distilled in the everyday and mythology, as well as exploring the human soul and its connection to the cosmos.
