Make a Mini Wetland – Washington

Washington Wetland Centre’s Water Lab hosts a fun, creative and educational session during the Dragonfly Festival, with the reserve wardens on hand to help you build your own mini wetland using stones, logs, plants and natural materials.

Along the way, you’ll learn how these tiny habitats support insects, amphibians and birds, a perfect activity for curious young explorers after a hands-on wildlife experience.

Your finished wetland will even become part of the reserve, going on to support real wildlife long after your visit. The Water Lab is an outdoor space with level pathways and accessible routes, and staff are on hand for anyone needing specific adjustments.
