Festival of Archaeology – Yeavering – Northumberland

The Festival of Archaeology returns to Yeavering, the ancient royal site that inspired Ad Gefrin.

Held on Friday 31st July and Saturday 1st August, this two-day festival brings Anglo-Saxon Northumbria to life at Yeavering, just four miles from Wooler, in collaboration with Durham University and The Gefrin Trust.

Expect a working Anglo-Saxon encampment with live craft demonstrations, an evening Lumiere light show on 31st July from 9pm-11pm, and talks from Ad Gefrin’s Dr Chris Ferguson and Durham University’s Professor Sarah Semple. There’s also live geophysical surveying and the chance to bring your own archaeological finds along.
