Exploring the Archives: New Dixon Discoveries – Raby Castle
Coinciding with the 4th of July, this new talk hones in on some new discoveries made in Raby Castle’s archives around surveyor Jeremiah Dixon.
Dixon gained international recognition when he developed the Mason-Dixon Line in the USA – one of the most important political boundaries in the world – but his professional life started at Raby Castle.
An archivist will unveil plans recently identified as being made by Jeremiah Dixon, as well as look at the close links shared between the Vanes of Raby and the Dixon family.
