Baltic Open Submission – Gateshead
Baltic showcases up to 100 works from its third Open Submission initiative, giving visibility to North East artists, makers and hobbyists who may never have exhibited publicly before.
No training, qualifications or exhibiting experience is required to submit, and a record 1,400 artists and makers put work forward in 2024, from which 104 were selected. This year’s panel includes North East-born artists Laura Lancaster and Rachel Lancaster, Tees Valley Artist of the Year 2025 Will Hughes, and Baltic Assistant Curators Rose McMurray and Rosie Coleman Collier.
Supported by Fenwick, the gallery also launches a Youth Open Call this year for artists aged 11 to 17, inviting submissions around the theme of Local.
