Ali Cherri: How I Am Monument – BALTIC

In this new exhibition, Beirut-born artist Ali Cherri examines violence against bodies, objects and nature in regions of conflict.

Cherri uses mud-based sculptures inspired by archaeological artefacts and nature to create hybrid beings. These explore the ways in which political violence is witnessed and how it scars the physical and cultural landscape.

In addition to sculpture, the exhibition shows several film installations visualising the various impacts of conflict on bodies and how natural elements bear witness to trauma.
