Abseil Down Souter Lighthouse – South Shields
Souter Lighthouse and The Leas offer a handful of brave souls the chance to abseil 18m down the lighthouse tower, guided by outdoor activity specialists Pinpoint Adventure.
Each session runs around 40 minutes, with all specialist kit provided and children aged 8 and over welcome.
Signing up costs £25 (non-refundable), with participants asked to raise a minimum of £100 sponsorship afterwards, all going towards keeping Souter Lighthouse, The Leas and Whitburn Local Nature Reserve running, from footpath repairs to bird seed for winter. Participants need to climb the tower’s 76 steps and a railing at the top, so trousers, warm layers and trainers are recommended.
