A magical, candlelit Nutcracker experience – Tyne Valley

This December, audiences are invited to step away from the rush of the season and into the peaceful village of Clara Vale, nestled in the Tyne Valley.

Perfectly placed between Newcastle and the market towns of Northumberland, Clara Vale is just 15 minutes from Ponteland, 20 minutes from Prudhoe, around 25 minutes from Newcastle, and under 25 minutes from both Corbridge and Hexham. With its own orchard still dotted with winter apples and a beautiful nature reserve ideal for a gentle stroll, the village offers a perfect festive escape.

Visitors can easily make an afternoon or evening of their trip, with Brocksbushes Farm Shop just 10 minutes away for seasonal treats and gifts, and the beautiful Bradley Gardens, with its walled garden café and boutique shops or pizza restaurant, The Wood Oven, only 5 minutes from the studio.

In this cosy rural setting, cellist Katie Tertell and pianist Annie Ball will present an intimate, candle-lit Nutcracker Experience. A one-hour journey through Tchaikovsky’s beloved score including The Sugar Plum Fairy, Waltz of the Flowers, Russian Dance and more. Each piece will be brought to life through storytelling, fascinating musical insights, and enchanting, close-up performance.

With only 15 seats per session, each performance promises a magical, close-up encounter with this iconic music. Guests will enjoy a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie, with hot chocolate available for younger audience members. All proceeds support the Newcastle Piano Festival and its expanding community music programmes.
