It’s back. Bigger, belter, and more black and white than ever. We’ve teamed up with Eastlake Productions and Newcastle Theatre Royal to give one lucky reader the chance to win a pair of tickets to see Gerry & Sewell on Tuesday 9th June.
Based on Jonathan Tulloch’s beloved novel The Season Ticket, which became the cult Geordie film Purely Belter, Olivier award-winning Jamie Eastlake’s adaptation returns to Grey Street after a smash hit run last year.
Gerry and Sewell live in Gateshead. They’ve got nothing. But they are desperate for one thing: a season ticket to their beloved Toon. After years of austerity and watching their football club change beyond recognition, life is a struggle – until they decide they’re getting those season tickets. And once they’ve got their mission, nothing is going to stand in their way.
Starring original cast members Dean Logan, Jack Robertson and Becky Clayburn as Gerry, Sewell and Tyneside, alongside Erin Mullen as Bridget, Matty Renton as himself, Sammy T Dobson as Claire, and David Nellist and Angela Lonsdale as Mr and Mrs McCarten.
Blending live music, puppet dogs, the magic of Wor Flags, and the odd star cameo, Gerry & Sewell is a wild, funny, and heartfelt tribute to black-and-white dreams. For the Toon. And for anyone who’s ever chased something that matters.
