North Tyneside Restaurant Week returns next week – here’s where we’ll be booking
North Tyneside Restaurant Week is back, and the second we spotted this year’s line-up, we started making a list.
From Monday 5th to Sunday 11th October, North Tyneside Restaurant Week gives foodies across Whitley Bay, Tynemouth, North Shields, Cullercoats, Wallsend and Benton a proper reason to finally book the table they’ve had bookmarked for months.
With restaurants across the borough taking part and offers priced as low as £15, there’s never been a better time to eat your way around North Tyneside, one delicious deal at a time.
KORK Wine and Deli
74 Whitley Road, Whitley Bay NE26 2NE
The deal: A main and side for £15, add an alcoholic drink for £20, or a drink and dessert for £25
An independent natural wine shop, deli, restaurant and neighbourhood wine bar rolled into one, KORK has been a Whitley Bay fixture since 2020. Choose from a chicken, double cheese or mushroom burger, or a mushroom skewer with chimichurri, pickled red onion and watercress, all served with fries. Step up to £25 and dessert arrives too, tiramisu di Calabria or goat’s milk ice cream with Cadbury’s Flake and pomegranate molasses.
1910 Restaurant
Spanish City Plaza, Whitley Bay NE26 1BG
The deal: Two courses for £25, or three courses for £30
Offering panoramic sea views, 1910 specialises in exceptional steak and seafood served in elegant, contemporary surroundings, available Wednesday to Saturday, 5pm to 9pm. Start with a fish soup loaded with mussels and king prawn, then an 8oz ribeye steak (£5 supplement), finishing with a classic crème brûlée.
Crust Social
14 Percy Park Road, Tynemouth, North Shields NE30 4LP
The deal: Two courses for £15, or three courses for £20
A Neapolitan pizza restaurant in the heart of Tynemouth, Crust Social’s handcrafted pizzas span everything from a classic margherita to salami and chilli honey or nduja. Finished with a world-famous tiramisu (£2 supplement) or pistachio cheesecake.
Al Bear
46 Park View, Whitley Bay NE26 2TH
The deal: Two courses for £20, or three courses for £25 (excluding Sunday)
Located in the heart of Whitley Bay, Al Bear pairs great food with wonderful drinks. Choose from lamb kofta or BBQ beef brisket bites to start, then a 10oz rump steak, teriyaki salmon (both with a £5.00 supplement) or a chicken kebab, finished with a warm chocolate brownie or sticky toffee pudding.
Salthouse
6-7 Victoria Crescent, Cullercoats, North Shields NE30 4PN
The deal: £25 per person (minimum two people sharing)
An Ibizan-inspired tapas restaurant serving freshly cooked food alongside a wide range of Spanish beers and wines, Salthouse has taken part in Restaurant Week for several years running. Expect pan y aioli, flat iron steak, seafood paella arancini and pork pintxos, finished with churros and chocolate.
Fred’s
Union Road, Tanners’ Bank, Tynemouth, North Shields NE30 1JH
The deal: Two courses for £20, or three courses for £25
Perched on the North Shields Fish Quay, Fred’s is bringing a relaxed, beachy vibe with a fresh spin on modern pub food this North Tyneside Restaurant Week. Choose from salt and chilli squid or pork carnitas to start, then a Korean fried chicken burger, katsu curry or dirty pig tacos, finished with a Basque burnt cheesecake.
Vineyard 72
Land of Green Ginger, 78 Front Street, Tynemouth, North Shields NE30 4BP
The deal: A solo sharing board for £15, add a medium glass of wine for £20, or a large glass of wine and an appetiser for £25
An independent wine bar and wine merchant on Tynemouth’s Front Street, Vineyard 72 uses a specialist preservation system to offer a fantastic range by the glass. The £15 board lets you choose three items from the cheese and meat selection, rising to a full sharing board and a large glass of wine at £25.
Project Pizza and Wine
133 Park View, Whitley Bay NE26 3RG
The deal: One small plate and one pizza for £15 (eat-in only)
Passionate about Neapolitan-style pizza, Project proves dough for 48 hours and bakes it in a traditional wood-fired oven at 450 degrees. Pair a burrata or hummus plate with a funghi or nduja pizza, and even though it’s not included in the deal, you don’t want to skip the Nutella and pistachio ring for dessert.
The Uncommon
Harbour House, Little Bedford Street, North Shields NE29 6NW
The deal: Two plates and a drink for £20, or steak frites for £20 (available Wednesday, Thursday all day, Friday until 6pmand Saturday until 3pm)
Built around flavour, music and atmosphere, The Uncommon shifts from relaxed daytime drinks into late-night energy. Choose from grilled sardines, wings three ways or char siu pork belly, or go all in on a 10oz sirloin steak with frites.
Kaycho Indian Restaurant
62-64 Station Road, Wallsend NE28 6TB
The deal: Three courses for £20, or four for £25
Taking part in North Tyneside Restaurant Week for the second time, Kaycho brings bold, authentic Indian flavours to Wallsend. The menu runs from onion pakora or chicken lollipop starters through to Malabari chicken roast, beef kurma or palak paneer, finished with saffron rasmalai or pistachio kulfi.
