Cowgirls & Country: Karaoke, a rodeo bull and drinks deals at one of the wildest bars in Newcastle
- Advertisement Feature
Saddle up, Newcastle. The city’s first-ever coyote bar is bringing a bold new Wild West experience to the heart of the city – and to be clear, this is not a place for a quiet pint…
If you’re searching for bars in Newcastle that bring something totally different to the table, Cowgirls & Country deserves a top spot on your list.
Located inside the iconic 55 Degrees North building, Cowgirls & Country has completely transformed the former Bar 52 into a full-blown Wild West playground. Think neon signs, cowboy boots, denim, bold interiors and a whole lot of confidence.
Loud, energetic and unapologetically fun, Cowgirls & Country is here to shake up the Newcastle nightlife in serious western style.
Here’s everything you need to know…
Girls’ night out in Newcastle? Giddy up, cowgirls
Love dancing on a bar? Then Cowgirls & Country was made for you.
This is elite girls’ night out territory. The vibe is wildly interactive, with high-energy performers whose sole mission is to keep the party moving. Sit down for too long and don’t be surprised if a dancing cowgirl appears to drag you straight back onto the dancefloor.
Expect competitive line dancing, dancefloor games, bar-top moments and an atmosphere that doesn’t dip all night. If you’re hunting for one of the best bars in Newcastle for a fun, chaotic night out, you’ve found it.
Ride the mechanical bull
Let’s talk about the rodeo bull. Taking pride of place inside the venue, the mechanical bull is absolute chaos in the best possible way. It’s the kind of attraction that turns strangers into cheerleaders and guarantees belly laughs and lets you channel your inner rodeo queen.
Karaoke saloon, games and all the yee-haw extras
This Newcastle bar is a full-on entertainment destination.
Cowgirls & Country is packed with things to do, including a karaoke saloon where country classics and guilty pleasures reign supreme. There are also pool tables, darts, basketball hoops and even a photobooth, perfect for capturing proof you survived the night.
It’s the kind of place where you pop in for “just one” and suddenly realise it’s closing time.
Nashville vibes, no passport required
Food-wise, expect American comfort classics designed for sharing, ideal for fuelling long sessions and non-stop dancing. Drinks are where things really get dangerous (in the best way), with bold cocktails, ice-cold beers and tempting drinks deals that make “I’ll just have one” a straight-up lie.
Add in live country singers, high-energy performances and wall-to-wall country anthems, and you’ve got Nashville vibes without the air fare.
What could make it even better? A daily happy hour from 6pm – 7pm where majority of drinks are discounted.
A wild new addition to the line-up of bars in Newcastle
Cowgirls & Country is one of those places you have to experience to fully understand. It’s loud, ridiculous, joyful and completely different from anything else in the city, and that’s exactly why it works.
Open Thursday to Sunday, with doors open from 4pm on a Thursday and Friday, and 12pm on Saturday and Sunday. Either way, this is your sign to dust off the cowboy boots, grab the girls and giddy-up into one of the most talked-about new openings in Newcastle.
Pick your night: The weekly line-up
Cowgirls & Country runs a different flavour of chaos every night from Thursday to Sunday, so there’s always a reason to saddle up.
Fridays bring Tennessee in the Toon, with back-to-back live country music from 6pm to 11pm, singalong anthems and dancefloor favourites, rolling into Cowboy Club late, ideal for after-work groups and couples.
Saturdays are a marathon, not a sprint. Hoedown Saturdays is the day party from midday to 5pm, with bottomless slots running 12pm–3pm, Cowgirls dancing on the bar, interactive games and bull competitions. As the sun goes down, Saturday Night Rodeo takes over with crowd karaoke requests, birthday shout-outs and big Cowgirl choreo performances.
Sundays slow things down (slightly) with Boots & Booze, a friendly line-dancing social run with Line Dancing North East. Four hours of dancing including two hours of beginner-friendly tuition, plus a welcome cocktail or mocktail on arrival,
The ultimate stag and hen do venue in Newcastle
Cowgirls & Country has built its whole personality around big group send-offs, so it’s no surprise it’s become one of Newcastle’s go-to spots for stag and hen parties.
Expect rodeo bull rides, bar-top Coyotes, bottomless cocktails, big-screen sport, karaoke and reserved group tables. Party packages on offer include bottomless drinks, a VIP table by the bull, hen-party extras like bubbly and sashes, and stag staples like beer buckets and a longest-ride contest.
Groups can enquire directly through the venue’s website to check availability and build a package around their crew.
Private hire: Make it your own
Fancy taking over the whole saloon? Cowgirls & Country offers private hire ranging from a reserved table for a small crew right up to a full 550-guest venue takeover, with buffet, karaoke, pool, live sport and the Cowgirls’ interactive games all up for grabs.
There’s also a private karaoke room for up to 15 guests, booked by the hour and available Thursday to Sunday. Full venue hire runs best Sunday to Thursday, with Friday and Saturday available at a premium. Everything is tailored directly with the venue’s events team.
Tribute nights: Sing your heart out
On top of the regular weekly line-up, Cowgirls & Country also hosts ticketed tribute nights celebrating country, pop and rock icons, complete with VIP group tables, drinks packages and afterparty DJ sets once the tribute act wraps up.
It’s a firm favourite for stag and hen groups too, with dedicated add-ons like DJ shout-outs and fast-track entry. Check the venue’s website for upcoming dates and ticket availability.
