One of the North’s most exciting arts events is returning to Newcastle this summer, and we’re here for it.
The Great Northern Contemporary Craft & Art Fair (GNCCF) is back at Northumbria University’s Sport Central from Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st June, bringing together over 100 independent makers and fine artists under one roof. Even better, High Life North readers can grab 2-4-1 tickets using our exclusive booking link.
Following a hugely successful Newcastle debut in 2025, this year’s fair promises to be bigger and better, showcasing everything from fine art, sculpture and textiles to jewellery, ceramics, furniture and more. Every exhibitor is handpicked by an independent panel of craft experts, so you know the quality is going to be top tier.
The weekend kicks off with an exclusive Preview Evening on Thursday 18th June from 6pm to 9pm, where you can meet the makers in a relaxed, intimate setting, get first dibs on one-of-a-kind pieces and enjoy a drink from the bar as you browse. It’s the perfect way to snap up something special before the crowds arrive.
The fair then runs Friday 19th and Saturday 20th June from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday 21st June from 10am to 4pm. Across the weekend, you’ll find live demonstrations giving you a behind-the-scenes look at the creative and technical processes behind the work, plus a pop-up cafe for when you need to refuel between browses.
Ann-Marie Franey, Director of GNCCF Newcastle, said:
“Our ambition is to establish the fair as an annual destination that celebrates the very best in contemporary craft and art. There is a huge amount of talent in this region, and having a fair of this calibre here gives makers and artists the opportunity to show their work to a wider audience without having to travel to fairs in the south.”
Now in its 19th year nationally, GNCCF is a not-for-profit organisation that invests the money it makes back into its fairs, bursary schemes for new makers, business development programmes and community outreach. Since launching in 2008, GNCCF events have showcased over 4,500 artists, attracted over 90,000 visitors and generated over £4 million in craft sales.
