Nordic in the North: How to dress like a Scandi it-girl
There’s a reason why we are all obsessed with Scandinavian style; it’s been sweeping social media lately, populating our feeds and taking over our Pinterest boards…
The Scandis know what they’re doing when it comes to looking effortlessly put together. They can elevate basics with ease, have tailored pieces that fit them perfectly and bike in almost any footwear – all while braving freezing temperatures, just like us here in the North. So we have no excuse!
The first rule of dressing like a Scandi is the art of layering; don’t be afraid to experiment with textures and patterns. Something as small as a lace slip peeking out the hem of your chunky, knit jumper can take a plain ‘gets the job done’ outfit to the front row at Copenhagen fashion week.
There was a trend not long ago called ‘building a capsule wardrobe’ which involved only buying items that are minimalistic, can be worn many different ways and fit the basic but classic bill – achieving Scandinavian style is simply this. It’s the art of less is more, fashionable, but comfort above everything.
So, this winter we’re swapping Oslo for Ouesburn and bringing a little Scandinavian style to our corner of England – here’s everything you need to achieve the look.
