Wren is landing in Ouseburn on Friday 14th November – a new bar from the team behind Cookhouse and Long Friday

There’s a brand-new spot to add to your Ouseburn hangout list, and trust us, it’s going to be a good one.

The team behind the acclaimed Cook House and Long Friday are opening Wren, a brand-new bar adjoining Cook House on Foundry Lane. Opening Friday 14th November, Wren is the latest venture from Anna Hedworth, the creative force whose restaurants, cookbooks, catering company and sell-out wine fairs have helped shape Newcastle’s modern food scene.

Designed in-house with Floc Architects, Wren has been created with the same creativity we’ve come to expect from Hedworth’s projects: beautiful, welcoming, and unpretentious. Inside, you’ll find thoughtfully designed interiors full of detail and charm, and an extra bonus – a hidden garden which will be bringing the vibes all year round.

Of course, the drinks list promises to be every bit as curated as the space. Think the seasonal cocktails, excellent wines, craft beers and house-made soft drinks we’ve come to love in the other venues, all reflecting the team’s passion for quality and craftsmanship.

And because food is always part of the story, the Cook House kitchen team has created a small but perfectly formed menu of bar snacks, made with the same ethos that defines the restaurant: good ingredients, cooked beautifully, served with care.

With a mix of familiar faces from Cook House and Long Friday behind the bar, plus some new additions, Wren carries that same spirit of relaxed hospitality that’s made Anna’s venues such local favourites.

Wren is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time, says Anna. It’s connected to Cook House, but with its own character. It’s beautiful, relaxed and full of care, like everything we do. We want people to come, have a great drink, and feel welcome.

We’ll see you there.
